The Martha Asbury Caudill Chapter of the Order of the Confederate Rose is an independent support group affiliated with the Colonel Ben E. Caudill Camp of the SCV. We assist the SCV with their historical, educational, benevolent and social functions. Special emphasis is placed on the preservation of Confederate symbols.

On February 16th of 1848 Martha L. Asbury of Tazewell County Virginia married Benjamin E. Caudill in Kentucky in what is now Letcher County near Whitesburg. Martha, as the wife of the Commander of the Caudill Army, played an important role with the distaff in providing much needed necessities and comfort items to the men of the Regiment.

The chapter was chartered on August 12, 2006 in Whitesburg with 12 Charter Members. It is the largest OCR group in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The Charter elected Debbie Back as President, and Sandy Wright as Vice President. The Colonel Ben E. Caudill Camp Commander, David Chaltas, was the Keynote Speaker at the first meeting and reminded the members of the vital role of the ladies during and after the War Between the States in preserving the good name of the Confederate soldier.

If any ladies are interested in joining, please contact Ms. Debbie or Ms. Sandy at 606-633-3331.
