David is the son of Glenn and Fern (Caudill) Brown. He is the brother to Adjutant Richard Brown and Wendell Keith Brown. He works as a surveyor for R.R. Crawford. He lives at Flat Gap, Kentucky at Crawford's Lake. He entered the camp under the name of Private John Boggs of the 50th Virginia. Private Boggs was killed at Gettysburg and is buried somewhere in the Gettysburg area. The Ben Caudill Camp has set a memorial stone in memory of this Confederate hero. David was very active in making the reenactments of Whitesburg and Leatherwood a success. He assisted in setting up the rail fence at both locations and participated in the battles. He enjoys riding his motorcycle through the summer and loves to hunt. He is involved with the Turkey Federation and has assisted in several clean up activities on the Little Shepherd Trail. He has worked on cleaning overgrown and abandoned cemeteries in our area. He loves the Civil War era and is very knowledgeable concerning his ancestry. His plans for 2004 are for him to be involved with the School of the Soldier, the Hunley Funeral, re-enacting in as many engagements as possible and continue working with the Ben Caudill Camp. He is a man of integrity, modest in all things and possesses a willingness to help all. He is a true southern gentleman.
