 Wes Caudill

Wes Caudill hails from the Richmond Virginia area and is the Treasurer of the Chester Station SCV Camp #1503. Wes has also
joined the ranks of the Ben Caudill Camp. Wes is a Major Accounts Manager with Commtronics of Virginia, Inc.
His ancestor is Lieutenant Colonel David Jesse Caudill, the Deputy Commander of Caudill's Army (Organized as the
10th Kentucky Mounted Rifles and re-designated as the 13th Kentucky Cavalry in March 1865) and brother to our very
own Colonel Ben E Caudill. Lieutenant Colonel Caudill was affectionately known as "Colonel Jesse". In 1862 he
commanded Company B, and was wounded at the Battle of Leatherwood according to the diary of Clabe Jones. He was a
key leader in many other battles as well as the regiment fought as a part of General John Hunt Morgan's Cavalry.
Late in the
war he collaborated in planning and supporting a secret clandestine mission with Quantrill of the Missouri
Partisan Rangers for a raid through Kentucky. That operation extended
until after Appomattox and ended in the Whitesburg area. It is truly one of the very last tactical operations of the war. The Last Kentucky Raid included such famous men as Frank and Jesse James Cole Younger. See the full story here, The True Story of Sue Mundy
After the war, Colonel Jesse served as the Wise County Virginia County Clerk.
