Faron Sparkman is our Past Commander and the Camp Histrian. Faron has been instrumental in the preservation of our history and was one of the founding fathers (chapter member) of the Colonel Ben Caudill Camp. He is totally dedicated to the cause of finding not only the gravesites of our gallant warriors but also in rediscovering their legacy and then writing about it. Through his efforts, the Battle of Leatherwood was rediscovered, resulting in the first reenactment held within our region. He is the author of Sifter Full of Bullets a thoroughly researched book about the life of John Sparkman and the 13th Kentucky Cavalry. He currently has undertaken other writing projects and is a sought after speaker regarding the War of Northern Aggression. He is a local radio personality and is well known throughout our area. He is the son of Ernest J. and Cora Lee Williams. His father played for Coach Rupp during the glory days and owns 3 radio stations in Hazard. He is married to Linda Campbell Sparkman. They have 2 sons, Graham and Warner. He is a deacon at the new Hope Church of Hazard. He is on the Praise Worship Team. He is presently employed at WSGS. He possesses a wide array of Confederate ancestry including the surnames of Amburgey, Caudill and Sparkman. He entered the SCV on 5th SGT John Sparkman of Co. A (who was captured and sent to Point Lookout). He has been our commander for 9 years. Ladies and gentleman let us tip our kepis and offer a rebel yell to our friend, our neighbor, our comrade, our very own leader: Faron Sparkman.
